[ Made in Japan Ceramic Mortar ]
Real Japanese pottery ceramic mortar made 100% in the city of Toki, Gifu Prefecture with a pestle (China Made, Japanese Designed). They are made in mino ware style (minoyaki), which was developed more than 1300 years ago. Mino ware is a protected traditional craft from Gifu prefecture characterized by the innovative glaze use and its unusual shapes and colors, which has been loved by Japanese people for a long time.
[ Easy-to-use and clean ]
Japanese style mortar bowl and wooden pestle set. The suribachi bowl is made from ceramic earthenware with hand painted red gradation glazed. The pestle is made of wood. Easy to clean by hand. Just rinse hot water and use a soft-bristle brush to scrub any resistant dirt. Mortar is microwave, dishwasher, dishdryer and freezer safe but not indicated for burner stoves or oven. The pestle is not indicated for any of the above.
[ How to Use?]
Grind and mash sesame seeds, garlic, herbs, seasonings and all types of nuts for salad toppings, dressings, sauces and pastes for 2 people.
1) Place ingredients inside the mortar.
2) Bold the mortar with your left hand and the surigoki pestle in your right hand.
3) Use the pestle to rotate contents against the sharp raised ridges of the mortar bowl. Hint: Use the weight of the pestle and do not pur much effort!
4) Add all the ingredients, mix and enjoy!
