Winter Gifts

The Gift of Stillness

In Japan, a gift is chosen with care and given with intention. This winter, offer a quiet moment: a bowl of matcha, a thread of incense smoke, a warm bath at the end of a cold day.

朝Asa · Morning

The Winter Onsen Morning

Snow on the rocks, steam rising from the water. In Japan, a winter morning can begin with a hot bath. It wakes the body, clears the mind and warms you for the day ahead. In Japanese, asayu (朝湯) also means “morning bath”.

Our Best-Seller

Soft Skin, All Winter Long

Cold air and hot baths can leave winter skin tight and dry. Made with kakishibu, a persimmon tannin used in Japan for over 1,000 years, our soap cleans gently without stripping natural oils, so skin stays soft. Pair it with our exfoliating towel for a rich lather.

After the Bath

Warm from the water, whisk a bowl of matcha. Ceremonial grade from the slopes of Mt. Fuji gives you calm, steady energy for the cold day ahead.

夕Yu · Evening

By the Fireside

Outside, the snow keeps falling. Inside, the kettle is warm and the light is low. The evening is a time to slow down, breathe in something deep and let the day go.

Winter solstice tradition

The Yuzu Bath

On the winter solstice, Japanese families float yuzu in the evening bath. Our soap, made with real yuzu extract, brings that ritual home with a bright, floral citrus scent. Light a stick of yuzu incense as you bathe and let the day soften into rest. Prefer something woodier? Try hinoki, the scent of a traditional Japanese bathtub.

A Holiday Recipe

Cinnamon Hojicha Latte

Roasted, naturally low in caffeine and gently sweet, hojicha makes the coziest Christmas latte. Light a stick of cinnamon incense, pour it into your favorite cup and settle in by the fire.

For one cup

  • 2 tsp hojicha powder
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) hot water, about 80°C (175°F)
  • 200 ml (¾ cup) milk or oat milk
  • 1–2 tsp maple syrup or honey
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon, plus a cinnamon stick to serve

Method

  1. Sift the hojicha powder into your cup.
  2. Add the hot water and whisk until smooth.
  3. Warm the milk with the maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon, then froth it.
  4. Pour the milk over the hojicha and dust with cinnamon.
