A lotus holder is a flower first and a holder second. The petals spread out flat from a small raised center, the stick sits in the middle, and the ash drops onto the petals instead of the table.

Five colors: navy dark blue, white, dark green, pastel green and pastel pink. Each is Mino ware, thrown and glazed in Toki, Gifu prefecture, where the glaze settles differently in every firing, so two holders in the same color will not match exactly.

The shape sits low and wide rather than tall, which suits a shelf, a windowsill or a bedside table, and makes it one of the easier pieces in the store to give away.
