Sage and Palo Santo Collection
White sage and palo santo are not Japanese materials, but these sticks are made the Japanese way, on Awaji Island in Hyogo prefecture, from natural ingredients and without synthetic fragrance.
Palo santo stands on its own here, sweet and resinous. White sage is blended with sandalwood, which gives it a base and takes some of the sharpness off. Both are traditional smoke, nearer a temple than a quiet room, and both come in 20g and 40g boxes.
The rest of the collection is what you burn them on: Mino ware holders thrown and glazed in Toki, Gifu prefecture, brass burners with ceramic plates, and an incense bowl with grey ash to set inside it.
